2. Gideon: Unveiling the Lesson of Recognizing Your Inherent Worth

Gideon, aware of his clan’s weakness and considering himself the least among his family, lived in hiding, threshing grain to avoid the Midianites. It was during this time that the angel of the Lord appeared to him, declaring Gideon’s destiny as a mighty warrior, assisted by the Lord. Responding with genuine curiosity, Gideon humbly asked the angel not to be offended. His inquiry revolved around the past, referencing how the Lord aided their ancestors in crossing the Red Sea and conquering the Egyptians. However, Gideon acknowledged that these events had occurred a long time ago and questioned why the Israelites were currently enduring the oppression of the Midianites. In response, the Bible reveals that the Lord intervened to address Gideon’s concerns.

The Lord’s declaration to Gideon was resolute: He would be empowered with strength to defeat the Midianites. Initially, Gideon, fully aware of his clan’s weakness and considering himself the least among his family, placed his reality before God. Acknowledging his doubts, Gideon expressed his disbelief at the idea of actually speaking with the Lord. In an attempt to seek reassurance, Gideon prepared a sacrificial offering of meat, broth, and bread. Following the Lord’s instruction, he placed the offering on a rock and poured the broth over it. Astonishingly, the angel of the Lord touched the sacrifice with a walking stick, and flames leaped forth, consuming the food. This miraculous sign served as a covenant promise

Subsequently, the following stories in Judges 6:25 detail the remarkable achievements of Gideon.

In the eyes of God, our earthly realities hold no significance. Throughout the Bible, numerous accounts demonstrate how God exalted those who placed unwavering trust in Him. When God is by our side, no wall is insurmountable. Instead of succumbing to fear, we must remember that our true worth lies in God, who embodies our ultimate reality.
